Newfane Class
of 1968
40th Year Reunion Planning
Meeting on 9/20/2007
Present: Bill Clark, Joanne (Lauve) Condren, Marie (Culverwell) Doermann, Jill (Flint) Hackett, Annette (Wilson) Harper, Molly (Beilein) Maigret, Dick and Sue (Quiett) Manning, Patty (Pool) Truax
Webmaster: Roger Gifford (in Florida)
The first organizational meeting for the Newfane Class of 1968 reunion was held in Newfane 9/20/07 with nine classmates attending. We are planning a Friday and Saturday night event, probably on the weekend of 8/8, 8/15. or 8/22.
We discussed setting up committees
such as finance, entertainment, and research. Molly will do some preliminary
work getting prices and availability of fire halls and local wineries in the
area. Patty is looking into some entertainment options. Bill, Patty, and Molly
have experience with organizing events in the past and we will rely heavily
on them for guidance. Sue and Joanne volunteered to work on publications and
help with research. Dick will act as a local contact, working with Roger to
help develop a database of class members for his web page. Molly and Roger are
working on a list of classmates who are deceased.
Other classes have published a class "directory" and sold it as a
fund raiser to classmates even if they are unable to attend. If we are able
to complete such a publication a few months in advance of the reunion, it might
help spur interest and raise some money. In addition to ticket sales, contributions
from classmates who would like to help finance our event will be gratefully
accepted. We also liked the idea of inviting people who are "friends of
the class of 68" such as those who went to DeSales, did not graduate, or
graduated in another class. Some of the names that came to mind were: Dave Kinyon,
Dick Kinyon, Michelle Meno, Angie Bellamo, Pauline Dunn, and Mark Dearborn.
I'm sure there are others, and we should add them to our database as we go.
Everyone present last night has unique information on class members which we
need. I hope everyone will contribute this information, along with any other
tasks they are working on. Within the next few days a list of classmates will
go out to the committee identifying the ones which we need to research to find
their contact information. Roger will maintain the master database. The information
we will need includes:
maiden name, first name, last name, spouse first name,E-Mail,area code, phone number, street address, city, state, zip, comments
No contact information will be posted on the web page.
Our next meeting will be in Lockport on Park Avenue at Wagners (wings and beef on weck available!) Tuesday, October 16 at 7PM. We need a few more people as we form our workgroups. Any classmates who have some suggestions or might be interested in helping are invited to attend!
