Deceased Name: REX T. WRIGHT, RETIRED SCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

Rex T. Wright, a longtime guidance counselor at Newfane Central School, died Thursday (July 30, 1998) in his South Transit Road home. He was 68.

A native of Tennessee, he received a teaching degree from Carson-Newman College in that state. He worked at Newfane schools for 30 years before his retirement in 1984.

Wright was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

A former resident of Newfane, he was an avid golfer and worked at the Willowbrook Golf Course pro shop in Lockport for 15 years. He was a member of the Newfane United Methodist Church and Gasport Lodge 787, F&AM.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, the former Helen Cain; two sons, Douglas of Orlando, Fla., and Thomas of Newfane; a daughter, Debra Noon of Newfane; two brothers, Max of Rockmart, Ga., and Ernest of Clinton, Tenn.; a sister, Bonnie Bishop of Tennessee; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Newfane United Methodist Church, 2699 Main St., Newfane. Burial will be private in Hartland Central Cemetery.
