Deceased Name: DONALD F. CASALE, RETIRED SCHOOL COUNSELOR
Donald F. Casale, a retired high school guidance counselor in the Newfane Central School District, died Wednesday (Dec. 13, 1989) in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after a long illness.
Casale, 55, of Walck Drive, North Tonawanda, was a native of Niagara Falls and a lifelong resident of Western New York.
He received bachelor's and master's degrees from Niagara University and recently retired after 28 years as a guidance counselor.
He had been active in the Niagara-Orleans Counselors Association and was named counselor of the year in 1980. He had served as adviser to several senior classes at Newfane, established the school's college career days and was a member of the Newfane Teachers Association.
Casale joined the Army National Guard while he was in college and retired as a first lieutenant.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sherrie Hotchkiss; two daughters, Kelly Gantzer of Niagara Falls and Kristy of North Tonawanda; a son, Joel of North Tonawanda; his mother, Marie A. Casale of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Joseph of Niagara Falls and Frank of Houston; two sisters, Dolores Bradley of Coopersburg, Pa., and Marjorie Majka of Holliston, Mass., and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John de LaSalle Catholic Church, 8469 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, after prayers at 10:30 in the Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
